Three ferries operate daily between Port Blair and Havelock Island. Flights to Port Blair are scheduled to arrive in time for travelers to catch a ferry to Havelock Island the same day. You can choose between the slower, more affordable government ferry and the faster, more expensive new catamaran, depending on your arrival time and budget.
Please note that obtaining ferry tickets can be challenging and time-consuming due to long queues. Procuring tickets at the last minute can be extremely difficult or even impossible during peak times. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase your tickets in advance.
Make sure you have sufficient time to get to the appropriate ferry, as boarding stops 15 minutes before departure. If you plan to board the catamaran ‘Makruzz’, ensure your flight arrives in Port Blair before 8 AM, as passengers on later flights will not be able to board this boat.
From Port Blair to Havelock Island:
- Government Ferry: 6 AM and 2 PM (Duration: 2.5 hours)
- Catamaran (Makruzz): 6AM, 8AM, 9 AM, 11:30 AM and 2 PM (Duration: 1.5 hours)
Note that a government ferry also departs from Port Blair at 12:30 PM, but it stops at another island before arriving at Swaraj Dweep, taking a total of four hours. We do not recommend this option due to the longer travel time.
From Havelock Island to Port Blair:
- Government Ferry: 2 PM and 4:30 PM (Duration: 2.5 hours)
- Catamaran (Makruzz): 8 AM and 4 PM (Duration: 1.5 hours)
The administration may change these timings at short notice, so we recommend rechecking the schedule a few days before your arrival. Additionally, all sailings are subject to weather conditions.
